On 22nd March I was invited by Harper Collins to the book launch of The Little Mermaid and Other Fairy Tales by Hans Christian Anderson. This is the 4th book to be designed and illustrated by the MinaLima team and I was very excited as you can imagine. It was also my first book launch so I was pretty nervous about what to expect!
The location was the fantastic House of MinaLima on 26 Greek Street, Soho, London. If you are a Harry Potter fan it truly is a must see! The House has 4 floors showing the creative collaboration of graphic design duo Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima. There are lots of designs on display including the graphic art from the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films, and also the illustrated fairy tale books for Harper Collins. This was my second visit, and it was great to be invited!

It started at 6pm, so after a quick mooch around Waterstones on Piccadilly, I headed over there. A room on the second floor had been roped off especially but we were free to look around too. I got to chat to some of the promotions team from Harper Collins, FairyLoot subscription box founder Anissa and blogger Charnell (Reviews from a Bookworm) and also have a couple of glasses of Prosecco. Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima were also there and said a few words about how much they enjoyed working on these books.

On leaving I was given a huge bag featuring a limited edition print of artwork from the book, a packet of British Bird Postcards (illustrated by MinaLima), some chocolate and of course a copy of the book itself.
The book is stunning and brings together many of the Danish writer’s favourite stories including “The Little Mermaid”, “Thumbelina”, “The Snow Queen”, “The Princess and the Pea”, “The Ugly Duckling”, “The Emperor’s New Clothes”, and more. The book is illustrated with specially commissioned artwork and ten exclusive interactive features and is so beautiful.
This is the 4th book in the series – the others being Peter Pan, The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast and I’ll be adding these to my collection very soon. Coming in July 2018 is The Secret Garden (which is one of my all-time favourite children’s books).
Not jealous at all!!!

What a wonderful opportunity! We’re planning a week in London in summer and the House of Minalima is at the top of my things to see list.
