Thora and Santi have met before…
Under the clocktower in central Cologne, with nothing but the stars above and their futures ahead.
They will meet again…
They don’t know it yet, but they’ll meet again: in numerous lives they will become friends, colleagues, lovers, enemies – meeting over and over for the first time, every time; each coming to know every version of the other.
But as they’re endlessly drawn together and the lines between their different lives begin to blur, they are faced with one question why?
They must discover the truth of their strange attachment before this, and all their lives, are lost forever.
Meet Me In Another Life tells the story of Thora and Santi. As the book opens they meet at a University in Cologne and feel an instant connection, spending some time together before a tragic event tears them apart. In the next chapter Thora and Santi meet again but this time as a teacher and student. Other chapters see them as lovers, colleagues, siblings, father and daughter at different ages and stages in their lives. As the story progresses they start to have memories of each other and these previous lives and try and figure out what is going on.
This is such a clever and inventive story. I would describe this as fantasy with a touch of sci-fi which are both genres I don’t usually enjoy that much and I did have concerns that I wouldn’t understand the explanation but I’m pleased to say I did and I thought it was excellent. The plot sounds a little complicated but the way it is written means it is easy to follow.
The characters of Santi and Thora have slightly different personalities each time and I liked that Thora was often gay. The same friends and family are in their lives in each story but in each story they have a different part to play.
I thoroughly enjoyed Meet Me In Another Life – it felt fresh and unique and am so glad I read something out of my comfort zone and enjoyed it.
Many thanks to Anne for the invite to the tour and to Harper Voyager for a proof copy. Don’t forget to check out the other bloggers taking part in the tour over on Instagram and on their blogs!
