Happy Friday at long last! Isn't this new hardback by @veschwab beautiful? I have never read any of her books before but I know she's a popular author with many of you. The Near Witch is part fairy tale, part love story and has never been published in the UK before. When a boy who seems to fade like smoke-appears outside Lexi's home at night, she knows something isn't right. The next night, the children of Near start disappearing from their beds, and the mysterious boy falls under suspicion. Still, he insists on helping Lexi search for them. Something tells her she can trust him. Thank you @titan_books for my #gifted copy. I can't wait to dive in! Available to buy on 12th March. #thenearwitch #veschwab #fairytales #hardbackbooks #fantasy #bookblogger #librariansofinstagram #darkershadeofmagic #thissavagesong
I loved A Man Called Ove! It was such a tender, emotional and funny read! I loved it so much I read it twice (which with my TBR never happens. This photo was supposed to be of books that have been translated from another language but when it came to it, this was the only one I could find. I'm sure there are more somewhere... 21st Feb - #ampersandfeb19 Language #amancalledove #fredrickbackman #bestseller #translatedbooks #translatedbooks #bookblogger #librariansofinstagram #flatlay #beigeaesthetic
Today is my day on the #blogtour for The Scent of Death. When bodies are found in an abandoned hospital, foresnics expert Dr David Hunter is asked to try and tell the police all he can about the victims. An exciting crime thriller, I enjoyed the descriptions of the forensics side of police investigations (although they were a bit gruesome in places) which reminded me of the Lincoln Rhyme books from Jeffrey Deaver. My review is on the blog (link in bio). Luckily my son needed an xray yesterday so I was able to take this photo in a hospital! #blogtour #bookblogger #thescentofdeath #crimethriller #forensics #simonbeckett #librariansofinstagram #gifted
A selection of spines from some hardback books I haven't read yet. I don't like hardbacks especially as I often have a book in my bag, and hardbacks are big and heavy. Yet I appear to be building up quite a collection! 😂 #bookstamumsfeb19 #hardbackbooks #bookspines #shelfie #bookchallenge #librariansofinstagram
As you may have seen on my stories over the weekend, on Saturday I attended a bloggers event at @hotkeybooks with the author of The Tattooist of Auschwitz, Heather Morris. It was fascinating listening to her talk about the research into the book and her conversations with Lale Sokolov. This was one of my top 10 of 2018 and if you haven't read it yet, I urge you to do so. It's a very emotional story, one I had to keep reminding myself was real. For those that don't know, this is the true story of Lale Sokolov who became the tattooist of Auschwitz in 1942. He had to scratch numbers into the skin of his fellow prisoners. It was there he fell in love with a young girl, Gita and became determined not only to survive himself but also to ensure the survival of Gita. #thetattooistofauschwitz #heathermorris #truestories #holocaust #worldwar2 #bookblogger #librariansofinstagram
I'm on the #blogtour today for In Safe Hands, a crime thriller with a worryingly realistic premise. 9 children are taken from a nursery in London, after the staff are locked in a cupboard at gunpoint. The story revolves around the parents panic and grief and the police procedures that try and solve the case to bring the children home safely. This was a real page turner of a thriller which I really enjoyed. Full review is up on the blog today (link in bio). #insafehands #jpcarter #bookblogger #crimethriller #avonbooks #librariansofinstagram
