I don't really do parenting books but Confessions of a Bad Mother: The Teenage Years was funny while offering lots of great advice! Stephanie Calman talks about her kids Lawrence and Lydia and their progression from the age of 7 when teenage tendencies start to kick in, to their actual teenage years as they learn independence to when they leave home. Let Me Be Like Water by S K Perry was the Brighton City Reads Choice for 2019. It's about 23 year old Holly, who moves to Brighton after the death of her boyfriend Sam. She soon meets Frank, a retired gay magician who introduces her to an eclectic mix of people who help her come to terms with her grief. I loved that it was set in Brighton - the author did a great job of writing about it (I've lived in Brighton in the past and still live close by.) It's a sad story...the whole book is about Holly's grief but the power of friendship is an overriding theme too. Really enjoyed this. Yesterday @making_up_junk and myself had an unexpected day to ourselves so took ourselves off to Chartwells, which was Winston Churchill's home. I've wanted to go ever since seeing it in The Crown and it was a great place to visit. The house is lovely...there are books everywhere and the grounds are just idyllic!
