I finished newly published psychological thriller, Beautiful Bad by Annie Ward last week. Telling the story of Maddie, Ian and young son Charlie over a period of 16 years, they seem to live a perfect suburban life. That is until a frantic 911 call brings the police to their home and it is obvious something terrible has happened. Travelling between war torn Europe, New York, Iraq and England, this thriller gradually weaves the threads that explain how things went so terribly wrong. Rivers of London is a book I've wanted to read for a while and I was lucky enough to pick up a copy last night at the #gollanczpreview2019 evening. The novel centres around the adventures of Peter Grant, a young officer in the police who, following an unexpected encounter with a ghost, is recruited into the small branch of the Met that deals with magic and the supernatural! Let me know if you've read it and what you thought! We also heard @aaronovitchben speak about how he bribes the booksellers of the UK with alcohol to sell his books! New #blogpost today for The Shadow Between Us by @carolmasonauthor. Perfect for fans of Diane Chamberlain and Jodi Picoult, this book tells the story of Olivia who has run away from her husband Mark and is estranged from her teenage daughter. We know there has been a traumatic event that caused her to leave. Tapping into the therapeutic power of letter writing, this was a heartbreaking read and I really enjoyed it. Happy St Patrick's Day! Twisted @making_up_junk 's arm to have a Sunday night Guiness so I could use it in my picture. He's very supportive of my #bookstagram! Well that was a busy week! It was my son's 12th birthday on Tuesday (and his parent's evening which luckily was great!) My other son had to go into hospital for treatment on Thursday and Friday and ended up quite poorly. And today we took 10 kids to Laser Wars for a party. I'm a little frazzled but I've got a couple of fun things to look forward to this week so that's good!
